About Us

A Winning Team

Our amazing team of volunteers are committed to helping cats in our care and community. Think you would like to help us? See our volunteer page for more information!

Our History

Paws Cat Shelter is a 501c3 non-profit, no-kill, and an all-volunteer run cat and kitten rescue.

Our rescue group began at the pound in Lebanon in 2003. In 2011, we had the opportunity to open our own shelter. Under a new team since 2017, our rescue work has continued and expanded our efforts in our community. We work closely with animal control officers, veterinarians and other rescue groups to help as many cats and kittens as we can.

Each year, Paws places about 900 cats and kittens into adoptive homes.

Animals Are Our Mission

We focus on making the maximum positive effect. Our volunteers and community provide the momentum we need.  Using community driven models, we take actions that make a long-lasting  difference like assistance with rehoming cats, linking people with vet care when they find strays, and providing resources for owners to help them care for and keep their pets.

Our shelter has committed to saving all savable pets entering our care. We do not euthanize healthy or treatable pets even at an owner’s request. We only euthanize a pet if:

  • A veterinarian or trained medical staff under guidelines set by a veterinarian has deemed the prognosis to be poor or grave, there is no chance of recovering an acceptable quality of life, or
  • It would be clearly inhumane or unsafe not to do so immediately
